Kathy Ryan

Kathy is graduate of the Dance Teacher Training Course, Certificate Program, sponsored by the Dance Teacher Association of America, Boston Chapter; Kathy has been a member of the National Dance Association, Professional Dance Teacher Association, AAHPERD, United Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau. Kathy has her B.S. Marketing, from Suffolk University, and A.S. in Legal Secretarial Science from Aquinas College. Kathy was a Member of NFL -New England Patriots Cheerleading Squad, and a member of the USFL- Boston Breakers Cheerleading Squad, she is currently a founding member of the NEPCAA. Kathy was Dance Captain for the benefit "Be Fit To Breathe" at Foxboro Stadium from 1991-1995; Kathy was also the choreographer for the Norfolk, Millis, Medfield Pop Warner Cheerleaders Program from 1991-2004; Kathy is the former Business Director and Assistant Choreographer for the "Free Spirit Dancers" a professional dance company that performed throughout greater Boston. Kathy is a former member of the Beverly Richards' Dance Company, a professional dance company that performed in dinner theatre's throughout New England; Kathy has choreographed numerous routines for schools and parishes in the Boston area, some of these including, Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Boston College High School, Catholic Memorial High School, Aquinas Junior College, St. Theresa's CYO and Cedars of Lebanon, and taught 6 years of dance and exercise at the West Roxbury Community School. Kathy has judged and on staff of numerous dance competition such as American Miss, Performance Plus, Turn It Up! Dance Challenge, and Miss Massachusetts Pageants preliminary pageant, affiliated with the Miss America Pageant. Kathy studied under Gertrude Dolan of Jamaica Plain and Eileen Cohen-Ripkin of West Roxbury. Kathy's students have performed in over 4 countries, 15 states and 3 cruise lines, and they have won numerous High Score awards;Kathy is also the President of the Platinum Performing Arts Dance Competition.
Greg Kanelos
Teacher/Choreographer & Competition Team Co-Director
Gregory started dancing at the age of five. His talent and training, under the direction of the faculty at the Kathy Ryan Dance Studio earned him numerous high score overalls, titles, and special awards at competitions and performances around the country. He has competed and performed as a student in places such as Walt Disney World (twice), Las Vegas, Hershey Park, Hawaii, Nassau, Bahamas, Royal Caribbean Cruise lines, City of Boston Square Stage, Celtics & Providence Bruins Games, and numerous states all throughout the country. Growing up as a competition kid, he found a true passion for dance. Having seventeen plus years of dance experience in all genres, he became interested in teaching at an early age, which progressed into a love for choreography. His first choreographed piece at age 15 won an overall high score award, & was awarded grand champion student choreographer. During college, he returned to the studio on the weekends to choreograph for the studio, while simultaneously becoming a full-time staff member. Currently Greg serves as the competition teams' co-director and lead choreographer as well as a teacher & choreographer for recreational classes at the studio. His choreography has been displayed at numerous competitions, recitals, school theater shows, Greek life competitions, Downtown Disney, and local town performances. His students have won numerous high score awards, special awards, and top overall placements! In addition to teaching at the studio, he is on staff at the Matta Dance Academy in Brockton, MA where he serves as a part-time teacher & choreographer. He is also a guest choreographer for Inspirations Performing Arts Troupe in Foxboro, MA. This upcoming summer, Greg, is very excited to be choreographing a full production of “FAME” for a local theaters upcoming summer musical. Greg has taught numerous master classes at studios & competitions around the Massachusetts & Connecticut area. The past two years Greg was asked to teach at the NEPCAA (New England Patriots Cheerleaders Alumni Association) Wellness Workshop, & last spring was asked to serve as a guest judge for their studio showcase. When Greg isn't teaching he is traveling on the weekends judging dance competitions. Greg has studied under several instructors including Marie Cavicchi, and Kathy Ryan. In addition Greg has taken numerous master classes with members from the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”, Americas Best Dance Crew, Disney Performing Arts Cast Members, “Sarah-Katarina Skooj Core-O”, Al Blackstone, Travis Wall, Mia Michaels, Tessandra Chavez, Anthony Morigerato, and the Rainbow Dance Team from the University of Hawaii. Greg makes lasting connections with his students through his love of dance and his unique and energetic teaching style. He looks forwards to continuing his growing as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and mentor by inspiring other, as well as learning from them.
